The quaint neighborhood is located within Jersey City northeast of Journal Square and is also holds the position as the county seat of Hudson County. Five Corners can be found tucked away at the intersection of Newark Avenue, Summit Avenue, and Hoboken Avenue. Across from Five Corners, there's The Divided Highway, Hilltop, and Bergen Arches.

History

The location was a crossroads in the 19th century, with Newark Plank Road going down to either Hoboken or Paulus Hook and Summit Avenue. Which then extended towards the north of Bergen Woods and south of Bergen Square towards the neighboring community of Communipaw.

Notable Places

The Hudson County Courthouse, also known as Justice William J. Brennan Jr. Courthouse, was established in 1910 and was designed with a Beaux-Arts architectural style, famous within the Unites States. From its inauguration on September 20, 1910, until the completion of the Hudson County Administration Building in 1966, the courthouse served as the principal seat of government for Hudson County.

For years, the courthouse was vacant and then scheduled for demolition but instead went under restoration in the mid-1970s, which finished in 1985. The courthouse currently has eight working courtrooms and also houses the offices of:

• the Hudson County Executive,
• the Hudson County Surrogate
• the Hudson County Bar Association

It has previously been featured in a number of television shows and movies, including scenes from Law & Order, the Joker, and many commercials.

The best means of transportation within Five Corners and the surrounding areas is through the Journal Square Transporation Center, which provides trains and buses throughout Jersey City.
