With Philadelphia's booming culinary scene just across the Ben Franklin Bridge, most people who live in and visit south Jersey probably don't know much about Camden's restaurant scene. But in recent years, new business owners have been choosing Philly's next-door New Jersey neighbor as a base for their personal projects. Years ago, our Camden DWI lawyers had to drive elsewhere in South Jersey on our lunch breaks. But today, there are several high-quality lunch spots right here in Camden. Donkey's Place
What would you say if we told you that the best Philly cheesesteak around isn't even in Philly? Believe it or not, world-famous television chef Anthony Bourdain declared Donkey's Place in Camden as the owner of the best cheesesteak in the world during filming for a New Jersey episode of his show Parts Unknown. Unlike its Philly neighbors, the Donkey's Place cheesesteak is served on a poppyseed kaiser roll, rather than a round roll.
After the Parts Unknown episode aired, Donkey's experienced a huge surge in business. Be prepared to wait in line if you decide to stop in here, but trust us when we say that it is so worth it. The poppyseed kaiser roll isn't the only thing that makes this delectable steak stand out from the pack.
Corinne's Place
A plate of good soul food is an experience beyond just a delicious meal. Soul food has the potential to bring comfort and (at least temporarily) ease your daily stresses. Corinne's place is one of our favorite lunch spots to visit during the winter or when the workload at the office is excessively high. You feel like a guest when you dine in here, and the food is always made with love. Even vegetarians and vegans can find something to enjoy here, including a veggie plate which offers the choice of five delicious choices (we're big fans of the collard greens, okra, black eyed peas, sweet potatoes, and corn). The portions are also huge, and you'll probably have enough leftovers for 2 meals.
Friends Cafe
While they specialize in Asian fusion, Friends Cafe has enough options to make everyone in the office happy. We like their various specialty ramens the best, but you can also mix it up with hot and cold sandwiches, salads, wraps, burgers, wings, and a wide range of appetizers. The staff is always friendly and welcoming - if you get along really well, they may even ask to add a picture of your group to the "friends wall."
Fresh Mex
Finally! Our Camden DWI lawyers have been waiting for a good Mexican restaurant to open near our offices for years, and Fresh Mex finally filled the void. Its set up similar to Qdoba, as you walk down the counter and pick your fillings. But it's much more similar to authentic Mexican food, which is a big plus for us. Ingredients are always extremely fresh, service is always super friendly, and we always leave with full, happy stomachs.
Freddy's Restaurant
If you're in the mood for good Caribbean food, you can't go wrong at Freddy's. This popular locals spot offers all of your favorites from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, including oxtails, goat stew, breaded steak, fried pork chops, empanadas, and a variety of other savory dishes. The line for takeout can be long, but usually, the dining room isn't too crowded. Authentic, delicious Caribbean food at affordable prices and always served with a smile.
