These nature sites expand far beyond the Jersey Shore, with gorgeous forested areas, waterfalls, lakes, and much more.

Palmyra Cove Nature Park is one of the most magnificent in the state, with 250 sprawling acres of diverse habitats along the Delaware River. Managed by the Palmyra Cove Environmental Education Foundation (PCEEF), this natural oasis in the middle of an urban environment helps preserve the natural beauty and ecological diversity of one of New Jersey's most beautiful regions.

Nectar Gardens

Palmyra Grove's award-winning Nectar Gardens have been recognized by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society for noteworthy maintenance of public planting and for improving the overall quality of life in the area through horticulture. The gardens are a volunteer project designed to experiment in drought-tolerant and deer-resistant plants for nectar-feeders like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

The museum is always open to accepting new volunteers who would like to help the Nectar Gardens continue to thrive.

Beginning Birding for Adults

Each third Saturday of the month, Palmyra Cove Nature Park holds a birdwatching hike for adults, hosted by the park's Naturalist. During these hikes, you'll encounter a variety of different creatures throughout the park, including some rare species sightings. During the springtime, you'll see many migrant birds who have stopped through the park in search of food. Summertime outings focus on resident nesting birds amid the park's full canopy. Fall focuses on southern-flying migrants who are traveling to their winter vacation spots, and this time of year has the most diversity of species. Winter trips will showcase waterfowl and owls.

Cove Campers

During the second and third weeks of each July, Palmyra Cove hosts a Cove Campers program for kids entering grades 1 through 8. This program helps students cultivate a sense of ecological responsibility, along with an appreciation of our natural areas. Kids will learn new things about their home environment through hands-on, interdisciplinary, and personalized activities. A different topic is covered each week, and campers have the option to participate in one or both.

At the end of each week on Friday, parents can join their kids and park staff for an interpretive Family Evening Hike between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.
