Celebrities often appear in the news after being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI), apologizing for their behavior and ready to fall on the sword with a quick guilty plea. As the cameras for Entertainment Tonight, TMZ and other tabloids report on the action, someone should be whispering in that distraught star’s ear, “Defend that case. You can win. At least consult with a qualified DWI lawyer!” Justin Bieber listened.

The attorneys of Levow DWI Law, P.C. have successfully represented several celebrities in the past who were arrested for a DWI or DUI charge. As a result of our successful representation, you won’t see our clients make the monthly round up because they do not find themselves in the media spotlight! Ultimately, we are dedicated to fighting for all of our clients while also protecting their personal lives through our strict confidentiality policy. Even if a client finds the spotlight on them, because of our years of successful representation in these matters, we know how to deal with the issues that arise.

With that said, many celebrities are inevitably arrested or charged with DWIs and DUIs each month across the country. In this post, we have compiled a list of celebrities and notable figures who were arrested and in the news in January 2015. This month’s list includes sports stars, politicians and Hollywood actresses.

Sports Stars

Jerramy Stevens, former Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end, was arrested for DUI in Manhattan on January 19, 2015. The 35 year old football player is married to US Women's National Soccer Team goalie Hope Solo. Stevens was driving the US Women's Soccer Team van when he and Hope were pulled over by police while driving at 1:20 AM with no car headlights on. According to reports, Hope Solo was temporarily suspended from the US National Team shortly after the incident. See our post on NFL stars here.[gdlr_divider type="solid" size="50%" ]

Hollywood Celebs

As an update surrounding the actress and fashion designer Amanda Bynes' arrest for suspicion of DUI back in September last year, the Los Angeles City Attorney announced in January 2015 that she will not prosecute Amanda Bynes for the charges. Bynes was arrested on suspicion of DUI in September after being pulled over and failing a field sobriety test.[gdlr_divider type="solid" size="50%" ]
